Kangana Ranaut’s Posts Stir Controversy #Boycott_Casteist_Kangana Trends

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut found herself embroiled in controversy as her recent social media posts sparked heated debate and ignited the trending hashtag #Boycott_Casteist_Kangana on X (Former Twitter).

On March 25, Ranaut shared two thought-provoking posts addressing issues of sexism and prejudice. In one post, she lamented the sexualization of a young woman candidate by Congress members in Mandi, condemning the display of sexist tendencies. In another, she emphasized the importance of freeing women from societal prejudices and refraining from using sex workers’ challenging circumstances as an abuse or slur.

However, the tide turned swiftly as the hashtag #Boycott_Casteist_Kangana gained momentum on March 26. The trend was fueled by a multitude of voices expressing concerns over Ranaut’s alleged venom against constitutional representation and her suitability for political office.

Ankita Deshmukh warned of the potential dangers of individuals harboring such sentiments reaching the Parliament. Meanwhile, others, like Ashiq, criticized Ranaut’s political alignment and qualifications, accusing the BJP of endorsing individuals with questionable backgrounds.

Reposts of a statement questioning Ranaut’s competence flooded the platform, with users echoing concerns over her alleged disregard for constitutional principles. Even The Dalit Voice joined the chorus, echoing sentiments of apprehension regarding Ranaut’s stance on reservations and constitutional representation.

Ranaut’s statement regarding reservations in professions such as medicine, engineering, and aviation also drew scrutiny, with critics accusing her of perpetuating mediocrity and denigrating the meritocracy.
