Vice President says, CAA aims to provide relief to persecuted minorities without infringing upon rights of any existing citizens

The Vice-President of India on CAA, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, emphasized India’s historical role as a proponent of diversity, with the principle of Sarv Dharm Samabhav at the core of its cultural identity. He remarked on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating its aim to assist persecuted minorities while safeguarding the rights of existing citizens. He lamented the lack of recognition for the positive impact on persecuted minorities in neighboring countries from a human rights perspective.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Global Spirituality Mahotsav in Hyderabad, the Vice-President underscored India’s status as a prominent global spiritual hub, shaping worldwide discourse with its profound commitment to spiritualism. He described India as a natural ground for spiritual enlightenment, where one can encounter transcendence, excellence, and moral integrity.

Highlighting the deep integration of spirituality into India’s societal fabric, the Vice-President noted its influence on various aspects such as religion, ethics, philosophy, arts, and governance. He referenced Swami Vivekananda’s significant role in introducing India’s spiritual wisdom to the world, citing his historic address at the 1893 Parliament of Religions in Chicago, where he advocated for harmony and peace.

Asserting that India’s spiritual heritage offers timeless guidance amidst technological progress and materialism, Shri Dhankhar quoted Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing the need to curb human greed through spirituality. He stressed India’s role as a beacon of hope and enlightenment in a world grappling with geopolitical tensions, repression, and intolerance, calling for the promotion of diversity and tolerance to foster sustainable development and global peace.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Governor of Telangana, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan; Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of Northeastern Region, Shri G. Kishan Reddy; Culture Minister of Telangana, Shri Jupally Krishna Rao; Global Guide of Heartfulness, Shri Kamlesh D Patel, and others.
